About Our Oil Paintings: Unlike many modern-day paintings, these works are done on canvas or panels prepared by the artist. Many of the paintings are done over the period of several weeks using thin transparent layers of pigment over an "underpainting" of sepia tones, thus allowing a deep inner luminosity and the capturing of subtle detail. This method of painting was widely practiced in the Renaissance.

1)"African Prince"(portrait/fantasy)

MEDIUM: Oil on stretched & primed canvas, done in the classic Old Dutch and Italian Masters style, with glazes over underpainting. Painting was done using a live model. MEDIUM: Oil on stretched & primed canvas, done in the style of the Old Dutch and Italian Masters and completed over a period of several weeks, using underpainting and thin transparent glazes. This technique gives the painting its own inner light.  Painted from life using a model,this work,with its piercing eyes and rippling muscles, is sure to make a striking impression.  Ideal for a gym or dojo.
